Master plumber Lee S. Drendel began his career working with his father who was a Springfield plumbing and heating contractor.

Mr. Drendel started a specialty supply house in 1946 and in 1958 incorporated this full line supply house under the name Capitol Plumbing and Heating Supply Company. Later the name was changed to Capitol Group, Inc.

In 1990, Gene Drendel succeeded Lee as President of the Capitol Group. Today, Gene remains as the Chairman of the Board of Capitol Group.

In March 2006, the 8th Street building which housed our corporate offices and central distribution center since 1960 was totally destroyed by one of two category F2 tornadoes. December 2006, Capitol Group moved into its current location on Cockrell Lane.

In 2014, Doug Drendel succeeded Gene as President of the Capitol Group to lead it into the next century. Doug is the third member of the Drendel family to assume the presidency.
